I graduated with a Ph.D. in computer engineering from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. My Ph.D. thesis was focusing on microarray cancer classification using machine learning techniques. I then joined Prof. Wei Wang's group in University of California at San Diego as a postdoctoral researcher. At there I focused on DNA motifs and gene regulation and developed a Bayesian approach to identify transcriptional regulatory rules. I joined Mount Sinai School of Medicine in 2009 as an assistant professor. My current work revolves around analyses of the next-generation sequencing data and bioinformatic tools development.

I graduated with a master's degree in biomedical informatics from Arizona State University. My thesis was focused on investigating the genomic differences between oncogenic and non-oncogenic HPV types. After completion of my degree, I was an assistant research scientist at the Center for Personalized Diagnostics at ASU's Biodesign Institute with particular interest in next-generation sequencing for cancer genomics. I joined the Department of Neuroscience at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in July 2013 as a bioinformatician, focusing on RNA-seq analysis in addition to developing tools to facilitate the analysis of this data.
